2010 Southern Superstars SLM Rules

BODIES & WEIGHT

  1. All competing cars must have full-sized, stock American manufactured passenger car bodies.
  2. For post-race total weight requirements, officials may utilize "1lb. per lap" burn-off.

ENGINES

Sealed engine - Hamner or McGunegill
2750 pounds and 7200 RPM chip for Hamner engine;
2750 pounds and 7600 RPM chip for McGunegill engine.

  1. Cast Iron blocks only.
  2. Carburetors:
  3. Carburetors may be changed after qualifying but the weight declared during qualifying must be the weight used during the race.

CHASSIS

  1. 66 1/2 inch maximum tread width for all cars.
  2. Engines with rear mounted distributors, 2" setback from the the upper ball joint. Engines with front mounted distributors: up to 4"setback from upper ball joint. Crate Engines may use 4" setback.
  3. No cockpit chassis driver adjustments, other than brake bias.
  4. No traction control devices, electronic or otherwise, will be permitted. Use of traction control will be cause for immediate disqualification and suspension from future racing activities.
  5. All lead weights must be painted white with the car number painted on each individual piece. All lead weights must be securely fastened. No lead weights will be permitted in driver's compartment. Any lost weight will result in a $10 per pound fine.
  6. Steel 10" wheels only.

FUEL

  1. Alcohol, nitro-methane, nitrous oxide, other oxygenating agents or other fuel additives are not permitted.

TIRES

  1. American Racer EC31 only. No tire impound rule. No soaking at the race track. Cars must start the feature on the same tires used in qualifying. Four tire rule on all 100 lap races. Tires are available only from Wagner Tires.  You can reach them at (256)655-7260.  All Southern Superstars Short Track Series tires must be purchased from Wagner Tires, and must have the "ARTS" stamp on them!  Any tires from a different source will not be allowed to compete in the series.
